Belgian comeback queens in dream Brisbane International final

Melbourne, Jan 8 (ANI): Kim Clijsters and Justine Henin on Friday reached the women's final at the Brisbane International, making a dream comeback for the Belgian duo.

Henin beat No.3 seed Ana Ivanovic 6-3 6-2 in the first semi-final, and Clijsters overcame Andrea Petkovic6-4 6-2.

Henin, granted a wildcard to play this week, was ruthless in her victory over Ivanovic in just 65 minutes, showing no signs of the rustiness.

"I'm in the final of my first tournament back - it's a great feeling. It's a surprise, of course, because it's not as easy as it may seem ... 18 months with no competition is not that easy," FOX Sports quoted Henin, as saying.

Henin and Clijsters have set the tennis world alight in their respective comebacks.

Clijsters, who retired in May 2007 and had a baby girl, set the ball rolling when she returned midway through 2009 to win the US Open in sensational fashion.

Soon after that triumph, Henin announced that she too would end her retirement at the start of this year.

Meanwhile, Henin's coach has raised concerns about the former world No.1's dream comeback being derailed by a packed Australian schedule.

Her long-time mentor, Carlos Rodriguez, expressed reservations about the Belgian risking injury by playing the Medibank International Sydney next week after making the Brisbane final in her official WTA Tour return. (ANI)
