BEML trounces Indian Bank 2-0

Bangalore, Nov 20 (UNI) After a goalless first session, Bharat Earth Movers Limited (BEML) registered an emphatic 2-0 win over Indian Bank, Chennai in the 30th Federation Cup Preliminary knock out match played at Bangalore Football Stadium here today.

BEML, which dominated the match from the beginning, opened the account with a superb header by Md Dadakhalandar in the 60th minute.

Midfielder Sanath Kumar, taking a pass from Tiken Singh from the left, fed the ball which Dadakhalandar netted.

Within a couple of minutes, the hosts increased the lead when striker Gopi netted the ball off a pass by Ghana striker Samuel Jackson.

The Bankers, with average age being 18 years, were no match to the hosts whose average age of the players was 24 years.

The Earth Movers could have opened the account in the first half but for a miscalculation by Jotin Singh whose kick saw the ball bouncing back after hitting the upright. After the breather Jackson's shot was well saved by Bank custodian Udayshankar in the 50th minute.

Though the Bank team brought in as many as three substitutes, they could not score.
