Guwahati, May 18 (UNI) Defending champions West Bengal defeated Kerela 4-3 in a Group A encounter of the Under-21 National Football tournament here today.
Till the half time, West Bengal led 1-0 with Gauranga Biswas giving the defending champions the lead in the 10th minute.
Bengal dominated the second half, buttressing the lead by scoring three more goals in the 57th, 60th and 87th minutes.
Asim Das netted two, while Bishnu Oraon slotted one.
Even though Kerela tried to hem in the last ten minutes, they could net only three goals.
Forward B D Farhat scored two consecutive goals in the 84th and 85th minutes.
Abdul Bashit netted another in the dying minute.
