Ruhaan, who is supported by the iconic Italian kart manufacturer Birel Art, showcased his talent in the first round of the East Kart championship by qualifying on pole position before winning both the pre-final and final.
His performance was all the more creditable considering that Ruhaan, a fifth standard student of the National Public School, Koramangala, had barely two days of practice at the track before the race weekend, but a series of blistering laps helped him top the qualifying sessions and go on to win the race.
Ruhaan's father, Umakanth, a former Rally driver, said: "It was a tight squeeze as Ruhaan
was also preparing for his annual exams which commenced a day after we returned from Italy.
"Overall, it was a fine outing for him and we are grateful to Birel ART India's team principal Marco Bartoli who travelled with us to guide Ruhaan through the weekend."
The Easykart championship resumes on April 8 with the second of the nine rounds.
