BHA President Dibaugh Singh Bakshi passes away

Mumbai, May 28 (UNI) Dilbaugh Singh Bakshi, president of the Bombay Hockey Association, passed away following a massive heart attack at a city hospital here yesterday.

He was 77 and is survived by his wife, a son and four daughters.

Mr Bakshi had been suffering from an kidney ailment for the last five months and finally the end came in the wee hours of yesterday.

Bakshi had served the Bombay Hockey Association as a committee member and then as a vice president for a decade before he was elevated to the post of President in 1998 which he held till date.

It was during the tenure of Mr Bakshi that the astro-turf was laid at the Mahindra stadium and the BHA academy set up.

The secretary of the BHA Cdr. Kehar Singh in his condolence message prayed for his family to get the courage to bear this irreparable loss. Mr Singh also said that a condolence meeting for Mr Bakshi would be held on June 2 at the Bombay Hockey Association premises at Churchgate.
