Bhambri cruises into third round

By Staff

Pune, Oct 14 (UNI) Fresh from his title win at the Osaka Mayor's Cup, second seed Yuki Bhambri proved too skillfull as he towered over Malawi's Paul Wilson in straight sets to enter the third round of the tennis competition at the Commonwealth Youth Games here today.

The level of the game between the two players was poles apart as Bhambri handed the Malawian a straight set mauling 6-0, 6-0 in just 35 minutes.

In a lop-sided affair, the 16-year-old Bhambri, who returned home only on Monday after he beat local favourite Hiroki Moriya in the final at Osaka, broke his rival in the very first game of the match and then continued his assault without being broken even once.

The Malawian was hardly anywhere close to Bhambri who broke Wilson in every game and had an easy outing today.

While the Indian fired five aces, his rival failed to score even one and was also guilty of committing too many double faults, three of which came in the fifth game of the second set.

A more experienced Bhambri was serving well over the 160km/hr mark whereas his rival even failed to touch the 100km/hr with his serves which were treated with great authority by the Indian to show his superiority in the game.

In an another singles match today, India's Sadanwa Sitaram also moved into the third round overpowering Jersey's Scott Clayton 6-4, 6-0.
