Bhullar, Arjun tied fifth at Thai PGA

Chiang Rai, Thailand, Jun 26 (UNI) Arjun Singh and Gaganjeet Bhullar posted identical scores of four under 68 to be placed tied fifth after the opening round of the Singha Thailand PGA Championship here today.

The Indians are one stroke behind joint leaders Prayad Marksaeng, Terry Pilkadaris, Lu-sen Lien and Unho Park.

''I didn't drive very well and hit only four or five fairways but my approach shots were very good today. I got out of the rough well and managed to make five birdies against one bogey,'' Bhullar said after his round.

The other Indians in the fray failed to impress with Harmeet Kahlon, Gurbaaz Mann and Himmat Singh Rai tied 29th after firing scores of one under 71 in the first round.

Gaurav Ghei's one over 73 placed him tied 66th. Digvijay Singh, Rahil Gangjee and Anirban Lahiri were a further stroke behind (two over 74) in tied 76th place.

Feroz Ali Mollah and Amandeep Johl returned scores of three over 75 and were tied 95th.

A four over 76 from Kolkata's Ranjit Singh helped him finish the day in tied 110th while Ranjit Singh from Chandigarh occupied tied 141st place as a result of his eight over 80 UNI XC AB RAI2031
