India's golden boy Neeraj Chopra is ready to return to the Commonwealth Games stage with a clear mindset to compete against the best, fight for gold, and continue pushing his own limits.

The 2020 Olympic champion is in excellent physical shape ahead of the Commonwealth Games 2026 in Glasgow, where he will begin his journey to reclaim the title he won memorably in 2018.

Speaking ahead of the Games, Neeraj revealed the philosophy that has guided his incredible career. "As an athlete, my mindset has always been to keep improving and increase my distance further," he said.

For Neeraj, success has never been only about medals. While winning the biggest competitions remains his ultimate target, the Indian superstar believes constant improvement is equally important.

"When you compete in major tournaments, your goal is to win the gold medal because the world's best athletes participate there," Neeraj explained, highlighting his hunger to perform on the biggest stages.

Neeraj Chopra announced himself to the world at the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast. At just 20 years old, he produced a stunning throw of 86.47m to win the gold medal and became the first Indian javelin thrower to claim a Commonwealth Games title. That victory was only the beginning.

After missing the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games due to injury, Neeraj is now back with the ambition of standing on top of the podium once again.

India will also have strong representation with Rohit Yadav, who recently threw 87.05m, and Yash Vir Singh looking to make an impact in the medal race.

Neeraj himself has faced challenges in recent times. A lower back issue forced him to manage his training ahead of last year's World Championships, and he has competed only once in 2026 so far, finishing fourth at the Doha Diamond League with a throw of 85.69m.

But the champion remains focused on the bigger picture.

"Sometimes you may not achieve a very big distance, but what matters is maintaining consistency and continuing to progress," Neeraj said.

That mindset has been the foundation of his journey from a Commonwealth Games champion to one of the greatest athletes India has ever produced.
