Mumbai, Aug 8 (UNI) Lalit Modi, Chairman and Commissioner of the DLF Indian Premier League, today announced that Big TV has been chosen as the DTH official partner of the DLF Indian Premier League in a limited tender, for one of the last three open positions for official partners left for the League.
Two companies -- Big TV and Airtel Digital TV - submitted their bids and Big TV won with its bid of USD 31.16 million over the next four years. This translates into USD 7.79 million per annum for each of the four years. The rupee value of the deal is Rs 34.27 crore per annum, which is approx Rs 137.08 crore over four years. The second bid was very close and was at USD 30.28 million over four years or USD 7.57 million per annum from Airtel Digital TV.
Mr Modi said, ''We at the DLF Indian Premier League are happy to partner with sunrise sectors like DTH. We welcome Big TV, a part of the Reliance Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group, in our prestigious list of sponsors. We still have two more positions open. But with this we have set a new benchmark for sponsorships in the global sports market.'' He said, ''I am happy that advertisers realise the value of the DLF Indian Premier League and are eager to become part of it.
It indicates that the demand for association with the League is paramount in all companies.'' Rajesh Sawhney, President, Reliance Entertainment, said, ''We at Big TV are excited at being chosen the DTH partner of the DLF Indian Premier League. We look forward to a mutually beneficial association over the next four years. The DLF Indian Premier League has created a buzz never seen before in the history of cricket. As an official partner of this premier event, Big TV will play its role in the enhancement of the League and in the process add to its own business and public profile.''
