Bihar: Manish, Avinash win Patna-Tilaiya car rally

Patna, May 6: Leading rallyists from Bihar Manish Agarwal and Avinash Kumar, driving a Maruti Esteem,have won the first 500 km long Patna-Tilaiya car rally. The rally participated by 29 teams from different states of eastern India, was flagged off here on May three amid tremendous enthusiasm.

The rally which was held on Time-Speed-Distance format,traversed through a difficult route via Fatua-Biharsharif-Nawada-Gaya and Bodhgaya in two days with an average speed of 45 to 50 kmph.

While the winning team which had incurred only 310 penalty points, received a cheque for Rs 20,000 as the first prize,the teams of Saket and Sunny Gandhi and that of Asgar Hussain and B Chawla were declared the first and the second runners up.They also received cheques of Rs 10,000 and Rs 5,000 respectively as prizes.

Organised under the banners of Magadh Motor Sports Club and Tata Indicom,the rallyists had covered 325 km on the first day before returning to Patna the next day along with some local participants from Gaya and a team of rallyists from the Army units in Bihar and Jharkhand.

Chief Operating Officer,Tata Indicom, Bihar Circle Z M Siddiqui distributed the prizes at a function here last night.

Incidentally,this was the first long distance car rally organised in Bihar.
