Biniwale, Bodas claim grand double each

Pune, Aug 15 (UNI) Top seeded Martand Biniwale and junior international Ashlesha Bodas scripted grand doubles each in their respective sections in the Le Meridien district ranking table tennis championship which concluded at the Deccan Gymkhana Club here today.

Biniwale, the number one seed, made short work of third seeded Vivek Kolte 11-3, 11-5, 11-7, 11-9 to capture the Men's singles title. Biniwale outplayed Aamish Karamchandani in straight games 12-10, 11-3, 11-9, 11-7 to also claim the Youth Boys under-20 title and, thus, completed a fruitful double.

Junior international Ashlesha Bodas was also in tremendous form and made short work of third seed Ruhi Sidhaye 11-5, 11-7, 11-5, 11-7 to lift the Women's singles crown.

Bodas, who was in irresistable form, outplayed second seeded Deepti Chaphekar in straight games 11-3, 13-11, 11-5, 11-6 to bag the Youth Girls Under-20 crown as well and completed a profitable double.

Nitin Mehendale bagged the Veteran Men's singles title at the expense of Ajay Kothawale 11-8, 9-11, 11-2, 9-11, 13-11.

Following are the results (all finals): Men's Singles: Martand Biniwale beat Vivek Kolte 11-3, 11-5, 11-7, 11-9.

Youth Boys Under-20 Singles: Martand Biniwale beat Aamish Karamchandani 12-10, 11-3, 11-9, 11-7.

Women's Singles: Ashlesha Bodas beat Ruhi Sidhaye 11-5, 11-7, 11-5, 11-7.

Youth Girls Under-20 Singles: Ashlesha Bodas beat Deepti Chaphekar 11-3, 13-11, 11-5, 11-6.

Veteran Men's Singles: Nitin Mehendale beat Ajay Kothawale 11-8, 9-11, 11-2, 9-11, 13-11.
