Nine-time IBJJF World Champion Mayssa Bastos added the biggest prize yet to her glittering trophy cabinet in the co-main event of ONE Fight Night 24: Brooks vs. Balart this past weekend.
The Brazilian legend secured the ONE Women's Atomweight Submission Grappling World Title on Saturday, August 3, with a thrilling unanimous decision win over now-former divisional queen Danielle Kelly from the United States.

At the post-fight press conference in the bowels of the Bangkok, Thailand's historic Lumpinee Stadium, Bastos excitedly told the press that her latest victory was one of her very best.
"It feels great. Right now, it's really hard for me to describe, but I'm really, really happy. One of the biggest wins [of my career] for sure," she said.
"I think it's special because I'm the first Brazilian to ever win [a ONE Submission Grappling World Title], especially because it was a title that I did not have yet, and also, [it's] for my legacy."
To cap off a special night in Bangkok for the 26-year-old, she also took home a US$50,000 performance bonus for her efforts, courtesy of ONE Chairman and CEO Chatri Sityodtong.
As the newly minted ONE Women's Atomweight Submission Grappling World Champion, Mayssa Bastos is open to all comers as she adjusts to life at the top of her division. That, she said, includes a potential rematch with ONE Fight Night 24 opponent Danielle Kelly.
"For sure, I would be happy to fight her again," she said. "Right now, I don't have anyone in mind, but anyone who wants to fight me, I would be happy to fight."
The Bastos-Kelly submission grappling rivalry could well be just getting started after a pulsating back-and-forth atomweight contest in their first encounter this past weekend in the Thai capital's Lumpinee Stadium.
While her unbeaten four-fight run on the global stage was snapped this past weekend, Kelly had success during the 10-minute battle with one of her divisions most decorated athletes. Few fans would object to a rematch between the pair, if that is deemed to be on the cards next.
