Boxing Federation Of India Refines Elite Camp Assessment For Transparent Selection
The Boxing Federation of India has finalised a new assessment framework. It will guide rankings and selection from the Elite National Camp. New Delhi hosted the announcement on May 2, 2026. Results will decide squads for the Commonwealth Games, Asian Games, World Boxing Cup 2, and other events.
Rankings from this camp will stay valid until the next cycle. BFI released the original assessment schedule in late April. A corrigendum on May 1 adjusted timelines. Officials cited delayed camp sanction. They said the change gives boxers more preparation time before testing.

The revised plan has two clear phases. Strength and conditioning tests run on May 6 and 7. Sparring bouts follow from May 11 to 15. These bouts use a knockout format. Final standings will be set across all weight categories after completion.
The evaluation carries 200 marks in total. It blends technical and non-technical areas. Non-technical parts cover attendance, weight, health, international potential, and conditioning. A panel will conduct technical assessments. Recent results, including the COAS Cup 2026, will also count. This aims to reward consistent performance under competition pressure.
Col. Arun Malik, Executive Director, Boxing Federation of India, outlined the approach. He said, "Our assessment framework is built on the principles of transparency, objectivity, and performance." He added that schedule refinements followed delayed camp sanction. He said they protect fair preparation time and align with international high-performance standards.
Only top performers will remain in the National Coaching Camp. The top four in Olympic weights will continue. The top two will stay in non-Olympic divisions. BFI has also set strict rules on weight, attendance, and discipline. Clear scores and penalties aim to enforce elite training standards across the camp.
