Brandon Ingram Signs Three-Year, $120 Million Extension With Toronto Raptors

Brandon Ingram has finalised a three-year, $120 million contract extension with the Toronto Raptors. This move reinforces his position as a cornerstone player for the team following his trade from the New Orleans Pelicans.

The Toronto Raptors have secured Brandon Ingram with a three-year, $120 million contract extension. This agreement was announced by Klutch Sports Group on Tuesday via social media. Ingram, who joined the Raptors from the New Orleans Pelicans just before last week's trade deadline, has not yet played for his new team due to a left ankle sprain sustained on December 7.

Ingram's arrival in Toronto came at the cost of Bruce Brown, Kelly Olynyk, and two draft picks. Despite his current injury status, many expected the Raptors to extend his contract. This move solidifies Ingram as a key player alongside Scottie Barnes and reflects Toronto's strategy of avoiding a complete rebuild.

Ingram's $120 Million Deal with Raptors

Drafted second overall in 2016 by the Los Angeles Lakers, Ingram has shown consistent scoring ability throughout his career. After three seasons with the Lakers, he was traded to the Pelicans as part of the Anthony Davis deal. During nearly six seasons in New Orleans, he averaged 19.5 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 4.3 assists per game.

This season alone, Ingram has averaged impressive stats with 22.2 points on 46.5-percent shooting, along with 5.6 rebounds and 5.2 assists over 18 games. Despite these numbers, New Orleans did not extend his contract before he became eligible for free agency this summer.

The Raptors' decision to acquire and extend Ingram highlights their focus on building around established talent rather than starting anew. Last year’s trades involving OG Anunoby and Pascal Siakam also reflected this approach by bringing in players like RJ Barrett and Immanuel Quickley instead of opting for future draft picks.

Ingram's addition is seen as a significant step towards strengthening Toronto’s roster for future success while maintaining competitiveness in the league without undergoing drastic changes.
