New York Liberty's coach, Sandy Brondello, is concerned about Breanna Stewart's injury sustained against the Los Angeles Sparks. Just three minutes into the game, Stewart left due to a lower leg injury. She had scored three points and grabbed a rebound before her exit. The Liberty lost 101-99, dropping their season record to 17-7.
Stewart, a two-time WNBA MVP, has been pivotal for the team this season. She averages 19 points, 6.8 rebounds, and four assists in 2025. Her absence could be significant as New York faces five of their next six games away from home. Brondello couldn't provide immediate details on Stewart's condition but expressed hope for a quick recovery.

The Liberty were playing back-to-back games after defeating the Phoenix Mercury. In that match, Stewart scored only six points, her lowest this season. "I don't want to give an excuse for being fatigued because we did have two days off," Stewart said. "I just gotta get my legs back underneath me."
The Sparks managed to extend their lead to 15 points during the game. However, New York tied the score multiple times in the fourth quarter. Rickea Jackson led Los Angeles with 24 points and sealed the win with a buzzer-beater layup. "We worked really hard for this win," Jackson stated.
Dearica Hamby and Azura Stevens contributed significantly to the Sparks' victory with both achieving double-doubles of 17 points each. Stevens marked her seventh double-double of the season. "We bent, and we bent, but we didn't break," said Sparks coach Lynne Roberts. "We just kept coming back."
The Liberty will need to adjust quickly as they continue their challenging schedule without one of their star players potentially sidelined. The team's resilience will be tested as they navigate these upcoming road games without Stewart's contributions on the court.
