Brighton and Hove Albion have successfully signed Maelys Mpome from Chelsea, the reigning Women's Super League champions. This marks the Seagulls' sixth permanent signing in this transfer window. Previously, they added Moeka Minami, a two-time Serie A champion. Mpome joined Chelsea from Montpellier last season but only played eight matches across all competitions as Chelsea clinched the Women's Super League, FA Cup, and League Cup.
Brighton's head coach, Dario Vidosic, expressed enthusiasm about Mpome's arrival. "We're pleased to have Maelys with us," he stated. "She's had some exposure to the WSL already, and we feel she can really develop with us. She's a versatile defender with a lot of good attributes, and we're looking forward to working with her."

In addition to Mpome, Brighton has secured Rosa Kafaji from Arsenal on a season-long loan. The Swedish forward appeared in 19 matches for Arsenal last season after transferring from Hacken but managed just one goal. Vidosic commented on Kafaji's potential by saying, "She's a versatile attacker who shows plenty of promise in the front line. She's a fantastic addition to the team for our new campaign."
These strategic signings reflect Brighton's ambition to strengthen their squad for the upcoming season. By acquiring players like Mpome and Kafaji, they aim to enhance their performance in various competitions. The club is optimistic about integrating these talents into their lineup effectively.
