Brit golfer Poulter takes pride, care on how he turns out on the golf course

London, Feb 23(ANI): British golfer Ian Poulter, who is well known for his attire as his game, has said that the best iron in his bag is the one he uses to make sure he always walks on to the golf course immaculately turned out.

The new Accenture World Match Play champion insists the personal touch helps him feel good heading to the first tee, which helps him play well.

Poulter defeated fellow Englishman Paul Casey to lift the trophy, which gave him a career high ranking of World No. 5.

"I take pride and care on how I present myself on the course. A lot of people haven't really seen it that way over the last few years, but I iron all my clothes for every match and I want to go out on the course looking good," The Sun quoted Poulter, as saying.

"For me it's a business and one that I'm very passionate about. So, that's my prerogative," he added.

The 34-year-old's fashion sense has earned him a reputation as a show pony, but he said: "I've had an interesting ride from a lot of people's point of view of how I present myself, as opposed to how well I actually perform."

"I guess this is very pleasing, to be able to be in that position now where I've become the first English golfer to win a World Golf Championship event. Actually, being number five in the world stands for more than just what I wear," he added. (ANI)
