“All’s fair in love and basketball,” and it looks like Bronny James is shooting his shot—both on and off the court! Yes, Bronny and Parker Whitfield have officially stepped into the limelight as a couple, just as the former embarks on his professional basketball journey with the Lakers, alongside none other than his dad, LeBron James.

Rumors about their romance began swirling faster than a basketball on a fast break during the Paris Olympics, where the two were spotted cozying up together at the Team USA games. Whitfield, a student at HBCU Spelman College in Atlanta, comes from an impressive lineage; she’s the daughter of actress Salli Richardson-Whitfield and actor Dondré T. Whitfield.
Both Bronny and Parker attended Sierra Canyon High School in Los Angeles, a place that seems to be the launching pad for many a star. Now, Bronny has officially joined the ranks of the NBA after being drafted 55th overall this year. According to the NY Times, he signed a four-year deal worth $7.9 million—who knew playing ball could pay off so well? The last season was non-guaranteed, which means it’s time for Bronny to put his money where his mouth is and show what he’s got.
During the Summer League in Las Vegas this past July, Bronny made it clear he was ready to embrace any challenge, even considering a stint in the G-League if necessary. “I’m just looking forward to any basketball I play,” he said, sounding as motivated as a dog with a new bone. “No matter what level I’m playing at.” That’s the spirit!
At the NBA Scouting Combine, he laid out his aspirations for the future. “I just want to … have people know my name is Bronny James and not be identified as just LeBron James’ son,” he declared. That’s a slam dunk of a statement! “I would be happy about getting to the league instead of me thinking about playing with my dad. But that’s not my mindset at all. I’m just trying to put in the work and see where it takes me.”
So, as Bronny hits the hardwood and takes on new challenges, let’s not forget that he’s also got a budding romance to keep him grounded. With Parker cheering him on from the stands, we can only hope their love story continues to flourish like a well-executed pick and roll.
