Jaylen Brown expressed frustration over what he perceived as biased officiating after the Boston Celtics' loss to the Orlando Magic on Monday. Despite Brown's impressive 35-point performance, the Celtics fell to a 108-104 defeat at Kia Center, bringing their season record to 22-7. The Magic, missing key players like Paolo Banchero and Franz Wagner, improved to 19-12.
The Magic's strong defence played a crucial role in their victory. However, Brown believed that the officiating favoured Orlando. "It was definitely a physical game," Brown told reporters. "Credit to Orlando; we should have met the physicality a little bit better." He acknowledged that it was a good preparation game despite feeling the officials were one-sided.

Brown emphasised the need for his team to adapt to such challenging environments. "Things weren't going our way," he said. "We felt like the officials were one-sided. So, I think it was good for us. I think we need to see that more, get used to that more, get more comfortable with that level of environment."
In Jayson Tatum's absence due to injury, Brown took on a significant offensive role but felt unlucky not to receive more foul calls against Wendell Carter Jr. "It's been like that," Brown stated. "For whatever reason they've kind of cut my whistle off where I'm not getting to the foul line."
Brown expressed his determination to adjust his gameplay despite the challenges faced during the match. "I'm not going to complain," he said. "It is what it is. I just have to adjust." He noted using floaters more frequently as part of his strategy and mentioned feeling impeded by Carter Jr., especially in the fourth quarter.
"Maybe right there I'll just be more physical," Brown added, acknowledging the risk of being called for offensive fouls while trying to adapt his approach on court.
The Celtics will review this game closely and aim for improvement in future matches. Brown remains optimistic about learning from this experience and enhancing their performance under similar circumstances.
