Paige Bueckers Achieves Career-High 35 Points Despite Wings' Defeat To Mercury

In a thrilling match, Paige Bueckers scored a career-high 35 points for the Dallas Wings, but they lost to the Phoenix Mercury 93-80. Despite her impressive performance, the Wings struggled overall.

Satou Sabally contributed 20 points and 10 rebounds, while Alyssa Thomas added 11 points and 10 assists, leading the Phoenix Mercury to a 93-80 victory over the Dallas Wings. This overshadowed Paige Bueckers' impressive 35-point performance. Bueckers, returning after a four-game absence due to concussion protocol and illness, made her first six shots and finished with an impressive 13 of 19 from the field.

Bueckers became the fourth rookie in Dallas history to score over 30 points in a game, following Arike Ogunbowale's achievement in 2019. However, the rest of the Wings struggled, shooting just 33% from the field. Kitija Laksa scored 14 points for Phoenix, including four three-pointers. Kathryn Westbeld and Lexi Held each added 11 points for their team.

Bueckers Scores Career-High in Loss

The Seattle Storm ended Minnesota Lynx's nine-game winning streak with a 94-84 win. Nneka Ogwumike led Seattle with 21 points and 10 rebounds, while Erica Wheeler added 20 points and six assists. A crucial three-pointer by Skylar Diggins gave Seattle an edge after a shot-clock violation negated a Minnesota basket.

Kayla McBride hit a late three-pointer for Minnesota, narrowing the gap to one point. However, Wheeler responded with another three-pointer for Seattle. Alanna Smith missed an open layup for Minnesota, allowing Wheeler to seal the game with two free throws. Diggins finished with 18 points and six assists for Seattle.

Rickea Jackson scored a career-high 30 points as the Los Angeles Sparks defeated the Las Vegas Aces 97-89. Azura Stevens contributed significantly with 19 points and 10 rebounds. The Aces played without star center Aja Wilson for the final quarter after she sustained a head injury during a play.

Jackson excelled by making four of eight three-pointers and hitting four out of five free throws. Dearica Hamby added support with her all-around performance of 19 points, eight rebounds, and seven assists for Los Angeles. Kelsey Plum provided nine assists against her former team.

Jackie Young matched her career-high with 34 points for Las Vegas, while Chelsea Gray added another strong performance with 28 points. Despite these efforts, Las Vegas suffered its second consecutive loss.

Bueckers' Remarkable Performance

In Dallas' game against Phoenix, Bueckers was outstanding in the first half alone, scoring an impressive 22 out of Dallas' total of 36 points. She achieved this by going eight of ten from the field, including three successful three-pointers and three free throws.

Napheesa Collier led Minnesota with a solid performance of her own, scoring 25 points along with nine rebounds and five assists. McBride supported her team by adding another significant contribution of five successful three-pointers out of eleven attempts.

Aja Wilson managed to score only two out of twelve attempts but was effective at the free-throw line with nine out of ten successful shots before leaving due to injury. Her absence was felt as Las Vegas struggled without their star player on court.

The games showcased individual brilliance alongside team efforts across different matches this week in women's basketball leagues across America.
