Butt will stick to his routine to get back into Pak team

Karachi, Oct. 13 (ANI): Pakistani opener Salman Butt has said that he will concentrate on scoring runs in domestic cricket and stick to his routine to reclaim his place in the national team.

"The main thing for me to concentrate on at the moment is to score heavily in domestic cricket, stick to the basics and stick to my routines", PakPassion.net quoted the left handed batsman, as saying.

"I don't like to make changes just for the sake of it and I will stick to what I know best and go with what has helped me over the years and God willing that should help me succeed at this point in my career."

Butt admitted that Pakistani players miss being part of Indian Twenty20 tournaments such as the IPL and the ongoing Champions League.

"Yes we are missing out on such tournaments, but Pakistan are of course the reigning Twenty/20 World Champions and missing out on such tournaments does not detract from the fact that Pakistan has some wonderfully gifted players," he said.

Although Butt was not part of the Pakistan squad during the Champions Trophy, he expressed his disappointment at the team's ouster at such a crucial stage.

"I was as disappointed with the semi final defeat as any other patriotic Pakistani. Whether I am playing for Pakistan or not, I am still fully behind the team. Hopefully the lessons of the New Zealand defeat have been learnt and we can make sure that we don't make the same mistakes in future," he said.

On being asked whether he has been contacted by the selection committee, he said: "At the time that I was dropped, it was an interim selection committee. But now that the new committee has had time to settle into their roles, I'm hopeful that there will be contact from the selectors". (ANI)
