CAB elections on Feb 1 to replace Dalmiya
Kolkata, Jan 9 (UNI) The CAB Working Committee today called a special general body meeting on February one to elect a new president after Jagmohan Dalmiya resigned form the post to fight an independent legal battle with the BCCI.
CAB Secretary Sardendu Pal, after its third working committee meeting today in as many weeks, said, ''The Working committee today decided to fix the date of SGM on February one and accordingly the last date for filing nominations is January 24.'' The CAB will start distributing the nomination forms with the ballot papers to all its affiliated units within three days.
During the working committee meeting today G B Muralidhar asked for appointment of a court obesrver. His observation was taken into account and decided that the CAB will appeal before the court and if it appoints an observer that will be accepted.
Mr Pal also said former Aussie skipper Steve Waugh will be the signatory on the blood donation forms on Frank Worrell Day.
While the ruling faction is still groping for a candidate, the opposition has already named Police Commissioner Prasun Mukherjee as their candidate.
