Cameron Brink made a remarkable return to the court, even though the Los Angeles Sparks were defeated by the Las Vegas Aces. Brink, who had been sidelined for over a year due to an ACL injury, played her first game on Tuesday. Despite her efforts, the Sparks' five-game winning streak ended with an 89-74 loss. However, Brink was thrilled to be playing again.
Brink expressed her initial nervousness but quickly found her rhythm. "I definitely was a little nervous at first," she shared with ESPN. "But once I got in, it felt like riding a bike. Great day. Ten out of 10. I really missed it." Her enthusiasm for competing and being with her teammates was evident as she reflected on her return.

Having torn her ACL just 15 games into her WNBA career in June 2024, Brink's comeback was eagerly anticipated. On Tuesday, she played less than 14 minutes, contributing five points and three rebounds. Despite limited playtime, Sparks coach Lynne Roberts praised Brink's performance and adaptability after such a long absence.
"I thought she did a good job," Roberts commented. "To be honest, she was more comfortable out there than I anticipated her to be, just because how long she's been out, and coming in midseason is hard." Brink's resilience and determination were clear as she embraced the challenges of returning midseason.
The Los Angeles Sparks currently hold the 10th position in the WNBA standings with an 11-15 record this season. The team looks forward to building momentum as they aim to improve their ranking in upcoming games.
Reflecting on her journey back to basketball, Brink expressed gratitude for those who supported her recovery process. She acknowledged the lessons learned during her time away from the game and recognised her own strength and resilience. "I'm tougher than I thought," she said. "There's so many lessons I've learned, but I think if I can come back from this, there's not much I can't do."
Brink's return marks a significant milestone in her career as she continues to inspire both teammates and fans with her perseverance and passion for basketball.
