Cameroon's Song may miss Rwanda Nations Cup qualifier
YAOUNDE, June 16 (Reuters) Cameroon captain Rigobert Song may miss their African Nations Cup qualifier in Rwanda tomorrow because of a neck injury sustained during a match against a local side this week, state radio said today.
''Song suffered a contusion (bruise) on the neck after colliding with a player from (first division club) Cotonsport,'' Cameroon's doctor Guillaume Ashu was quoted as saying.
''It is not very serious, but we don't want to take the risk of aggravating the injury by lining him up for Sunday's game,'' he said, adding that a final decision had still to be made about a player who has never missed an international.
The Indomitable Lions are already without striker Samuel Eto'o, three times African Player of the Year, who is involved in Barcelona's defence of their Spanish league title tomorrow.
Galatasaray's Song has emerged as a key member of the Cameroon side over the last decade. He has played in three World Cups and been capped over 100 times.
Cameroon face Rwanda in the northern town of Garoua where a draw would secure them a place in next year's finals in Ghana.
