Jarrett Allen has secured a three-year, $91 million contract extension with the Cleveland Cavaliers. This deal ensures he will earn $131 million over the next five years. Allen's performance last season was impressive, averaging 16.5 points and 10.5 rebounds per game. His shooting accuracy of 63.4% placed him fourth in the NBA rankings. The 26-year-old centre was originally drafted by the Brooklyn Nets as the 22nd overall pick in 2017 before being traded to Cleveland in January 2021.

Since joining the Cavaliers, Allen has made significant contributions to the team. In his first full season with Cleveland in 2021-22, he averaged 16.1 points and a career-high 10.8 rebounds per game, earning him an All-Star selection. Over his tenure with the Cavs, he has maintained averages of 15.1 points, 10.3 rebounds, and two assists per game while shooting at a rate of 64.2%.

The Cavaliers reached the Eastern Conference semi-finals last season but were eliminated by the Boston Celtics, who went on to win the championship. Allen missed the entire playoff series due to a rib injury, and Mitchell was absent for the final two games because of a left calf strain.

Before his injury in last season’s playoffs, Allen played four post-season games where he averaged 17 points on an impressive 67.6% shooting and grabbed 13.8 rebounds per game. His absence was felt deeply during their playoff run.
