Celtics Defeat Pistons To End Their Impressive 13-Game Winning Streak

The Boston Celtics triumphed over the Detroit Pistons with a score of 117-114, halting their impressive 13-game winning streak. Jaylen Brown and Derrick White were pivotal in this hard-fought match.

The Boston Celtics ended the Detroit Pistons' impressive 13-game winning streak with a narrow 117-114 victory. Jaylen Brown led the Celtics with 33 points and 10 rebounds, while Derrick White added 27 points, including six three-pointers. Despite Cade Cunningham's strong performance of 42 points, the Pistons couldn't secure a win. The Celtics' defence was crucial, limiting Detroit to under 40% shooting and forcing 13 turnovers.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander powered the Oklahoma City Thunder to their tenth consecutive win, defeating the Minnesota Timberwolves 113-105 in an NBA Cup game. Despite being unwell, Gilgeous-Alexander scored 40 points, making 12 of his 19 field goal attempts and converting 15 of 17 free throws. This victory places Oklahoma City as one of only five teams in NBA history to start a season with an 18-1 record.

Celtics Snap Pistons' Winning Streak

In another thrilling match, Brandon Ingram's last-second jumper secured a ninth straight win for the Toronto Raptors against the Indiana Pacers. Ingram contributed significantly with 26 points and eight rebounds. The Raptors' victory ensured them a top-two seed and homecourt advantage in the NBA Cup quarterfinals. Scottie Barnes also shone with 24 points and 10 rebounds.

The Pistons had been enjoying a remarkable season start, leading the Eastern Conference with a 15-3 record. Their recent success is notable given their struggles just two years ago when they endured a lengthy losing streak. However, this year's team couldn't surpass the franchise records set by previous championship-winning squads from the late '80s and early '00s.

Despite Minnesota's Anthony Edwards scoring 31 points and grabbing eight rebounds, the Timberwolves suffered their third consecutive loss against Oklahoma City. Minnesota struggled at the free-throw line, converting only 22 of their 37 attempts. Meanwhile, Gilgeous-Alexander is on track to match Wilt Chamberlain's second-longest streak of scoring at least 20 points in consecutive games.

Raptors Secure Homecourt Advantage

The Raptors' triumph over Indiana not only extended their winning streak but also solidified their position in the NBA Cup standings. Immanuel Quickley added valuable support with his contribution of 15 points. On the other hand, Indiana continues to face challenges due to injuries, resulting in three straight losses and an overall disappointing record this season.

In Boston's game against Detroit, Brown took an impressive number of shots to reach his point total while also contributing defensively with two blocks and two steals. White was particularly effective in clutch moments, scoring crucial points in the final minutes to help secure Boston's victory.

Cunningham had an opportunity to tie Boston late in the game but missed one of his three free throw attempts after being fouled near half-court. Jalen Duren supported him with a double-double performance by adding both scoring and rebounding efforts for Detroit.

The Thunder are now well-positioned for advancement in West Group A after maintaining an unbeaten record there. As they continue their impressive run this season under Gilgeous-Alexander’s leadership, fans eagerly anticipate whether he will extend his scoring streak further against Phoenix soon.
