Central Excise (Kochi) make fluent start in Ramu Memorial

Mumbai, Oct 14 (UNI) Central Excise&Customs (Kochi) kicked off their campaign with a fluent 92-65 win over Tamil Nadu Basketball Association (TNBA) in a Men's Group 'B' opener, in the 24th United Phosphorous Ltd All India Ramu Memorial Basketball Tournament that got under way at the Indian Gymkhana, King's Circle at Matunga here today.

Central Excise, who led 47-31 at half-time, were spearheaded by former internationals Subhash Shenoy (28 points) and Sunny Thomas who scored 20 points including two three-pointers.

Anbu Kumar top-scored for TNBA with 19 points, including three three-pointers, while Parthiban contributed 14 points including two three-pointers.

Central Excise took charge from the start as they led 22-18 in the first quarter and increased their lead in the subsequent quarters, even as TNBA effected a late challenge in the fourth.
