CGF Chief to visit Pune to assess work for Commonwealth Youth Game
New Delhi, May 14 (UNI) Commonwealth Games Federation (CGF) chief Michaell Fennel will visit Pune on May 22 to inspect the progress work for holding Commonwealth Youth Games in October next year, Delhi Commonwealth Games Organising Committee Chairman Suresh Kalmadi said today.
''Construction work is in full swing in Pune and Mr Fennell will pay a visit there on May 22 to inspect the site and construction work,'' said Mr Kalmadi, while addressing the second meeting of the CGF Coordination Commission for the Delhi Games here.
Mr Kalmadi, who is also the Lok Sabha MP from Pune, said ''Commonwealth Youth Games is an integral part of 2010 Delhi Games and we hope Pune will host a hugely successful event as a precursor to the Delhi mega event,'' he said.
He informed that the Central Government has sanctioned Rs 110 crore for the Pune Commonwealth Youth Games.
The Youth Games, featuring seven disciplines including Athletics, Badminton, Boxing, Shooting, Swimming, Tennis and Weightlifting, will be held from October 12 to 18 next year.
