Chappell, Jagdale stress on induction of youngsters in their reports
Mumbai, Apr 6 (UNI) Outgoing India coach Greg Chappell and World Cup team manager Sanjay Jagdale today stressed the need to induct youngsters in the team in their reports to the BCCI.
They, along with captain Rahul Dravid and selection committee chairman Dilip Vengsarkar, met the board officials led by its president Sharad Pawar at a meeting here to review India's debacle in the World Cup, a BCCI release stated.
Chappell made a detailed presentation on his experiences of coaching India over the past 22 months and pointed out the shortcomings and suggested measures to improve Indian cricket.
The 58-year-old former Aussie captain emphasised the need to promote youngsters and concentrate on fitness of the players for improvement in fielding and running between the wickets.
Chappell also told the board officials that as a coach he was partly responsible for the below par showing of the team at the showpiece event in the Caribbean.
He, however, confined himself to issues plaguing Indian cricket and did not make any reference to any individual players, the release added.
