Charlotte Hornets Extend Sixth Straight Win With 111-106 Victory Over Spurs

Brandon Miller, Joel Embiid and Anthony Edwards delivered big scoring nights as the Charlotte Hornets, Philadelphia 76ers and Minnesota Timberwolves each stretched winning streaks in key NBA results that shaped playoff races, highlighted by Philadelphia’s response to Paul George’s 25-game suspension and Charlotte’s longest run since 2016.

The Hornets, 76ers and Timberwolves all won by double digits or in tight late-game situations, with San Antonio Spurs, New Orleans Pelicans and Memphis Grizzlies on the losing side. The three matchups featured standout individual numbers, strong three-point shooting and important momentum swings across both conferences.

Hornets extend six-game win streak vs Spurs
Game Score Top Scorer Key Team Streak
Hornets vs Spurs 111-106 Brandon Miller – 26 pts Hornets six straight wins
76ers vs Pelicans 124-114 Joel Embiid – 40 pts 76ers win after George suspension
Timberwolves vs Grizzlies 131-114 Anthony Edwards – 33 pts Timberwolves four straight wins

The Philadelphia 76ers handled a difficult day by beating the New Orleans Pelicans 124-114, only hours after Paul George received a 25-game suspension for violating the NBA’s anti-drug policy. The league did not reveal the substance involved, and George told ESPN that George had taken something improper.

Joel Embiid responded with 40 points, 11 rebounds and two blocks, while the 76ers hit 17 three-pointers. Tyrese Maxey scored 18 points and made four threes, including one that pushed the lead to 117-111. Embiid and VJ Edgecombe then hit back-to-back threes for a 123-113 cushion.

Kelly Oubre Jr. added 19 points as Philadelphia finally pulled clear of a Pelicans team sitting on 13 wins. Embiid heard "M-V-P! M-V-P!" chants before sinking a free throw with 11.3 seconds remaining, which moved Embiid to the 40-point mark and closed a challenging night on court.

The Charlotte Hornets edged the Southwest-Division-leading San Antonio Spurs 111-106, earning a sixth straight victory. Brandon Miller produced 26 points and eight rebounds, while Collin Sexton finished with 21 points. LaMelo Ball came close to a triple-double with 16 points, eight rebounds and eight assists.

Charlotte improved to 22-28 and moved closer to the 10th and final Play-In spot in the Eastern Conference. The Hornets are now 18-14 after a 4-14 start and enjoying the franchise’s best winning sequence since a seven-game run in March 2016, underlining the turnaround.

San Antonio, now 32-16, controlled the first, third and fourth quarters but paid for a poor second period. The Hornets dominated that stretch 35-17, which created a cushion the Spurs failed to erase. Rookie Dylan Harper scored 20 points from the bench, yet San Antonio has dropped three of five.

The Minnesota Timberwolves continued their strong run with a 131-114 win over the Memphis Grizzlies, giving Minnesota four consecutive victories. Anthony Edwards led all scorers with 33 points, while Julius Randle contributed 27 points and seven assists, providing steady playmaking alongside the primary scoring.

Naz Reid and Jaden McDaniels each added 20 points for the Timberwolves, with Reid also securing nine rebounds. Rudy Gobert controlled the glass with 16 rebounds and two blocks. All four wins in the streak have come by double figures, including a wire-to-wire victory over the defending champion Oklahoma City Thunder on Thursday.

Memphis saw some encouragement from Ty Jerome, who played a first game of the season after a right calf strain and produced 20 points and six assists. However, that display could not stop the Grizzlies from suffering a sixth straight defeat, deepening concerns about Memphis’ current slide.

The latest wins for the Hornets, 76ers and Timberwolves tightened several playoff battles, with Charlotte gaining on the Eastern Conference Play-In line and Minnesota reinforcing form against recent champions. Philadelphia, meanwhile, showed the ability to compete without Paul George, relying on Embiid’s production and long-range shooting to manage a difficult situation.
