At just 22 years old, Manu Bhaker has already cemented her place in history as India’s most successful female shooter. With two bronze medals from the Paris 2024 Olympics, as well as gold medals at the World Championships, Asian Games, Commonwealth Games, and Youth Olympic Games, she has accomplished what many athletes spend a lifetime pursuing.
Her journey has been nothing short of extraordinary, and she continues to set new benchmarks for Indian shooters on the global stage.

Manu Bhaker’s success story is not only a testament to her talent but also to her perseverance and dedication.
Reflecting on her journey in a tweet on her X (formerly Twitter) account, she shared:
“I was 14 when I started my journey in shooting. Never had I imagined I would reach this far. Once you start something, make sure you do everything possible to chase your dreams relentlessly, no matter how tough it gets."
She continued with a powerful message for aspiring athletes:
“Stay focused, stay driven, and let your passion fuel your journey. Every small step forward brings you closer to greatness. Keep going, you’re capable of much more than you imagine!
Her dream of winning Olympic gold remains alive, and there is no doubt that she will continue to strive for greater heights.
“And, yes, my dream of winning Olympic gold medals continues,” she wrote.
A Historic Double at Paris 2024
Manu became the first Indian woman to win an Olympic medal in shooting when she clinched bronze in the women’s 10m air pistol event at the Paris 2024 Games. This victory was especially significant, coming a day after she made history as the first Indian female shooter to qualify for an Olympic final in an individual event in two decades.
Her achievement was made all the more poignant after her heartbreaking experience at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, where a pistol malfunction denied her a shot at the podium in the same event.
Manu Bhaker’s success in Paris didn’t stop at one medal. Days later, she partnered with Sarabjot Singh in the 10m air pistol mixed team event to secure another bronze, making her the first Indian athlete from independent India to win two medals at the same edition of the Olympics.
Even as a teenager, Manu displayed immense talent and determination, quickly rising through the ranks to become a leading figure in Indian shooting. Her journey began at the age of 14, and in a few short years, she has become India’s latest shooting sensation.
