German chess prodigy Vincent Keymer has clinched the Quantbox Chennai Grand Masters 2025 title in emphatic style, securing the crown with one round still to play.

At just 20 years old, Keymer not only becomes the first sole champion in the three-year history of the tournament but also breaks into the world's Top 10 in the live ratings - a career milestone he has long pursued.

Playing with the white pieces in Round 8, Keymer drew his game against Dutch GM Jorden van Foreest, and results on other boards mathematically confirmed his triumph. His early winning run in the tournament set the stage for this dominant performance against a world-class field.

"Winning the tournament and entering the Top 10 at the same time is fantastic," Keymer said, adding that he will remain focused for the final round to protect his new world ranking.

The Chennai Grand Masters - organised by MGD1 - is India's strongest classical chess tournament, featuring two elite 10-player round robin sections (Masters and Challengers) over nine days. With a ₹1 Crore prize pool, Keymer earns ₹25 Lakhs along with 24.5 FIDE Circuit points, crucial for 2026 Candidates qualification. The Challengers winner takes home ₹7 Lakhs and a ticket to next year's Masters.
