By Staff

Chennai, Oct 18 (UNI) For Beijing Olympics bronze, Vijender Kumar, modelling is only a hobby. His focus would be on winning gold at the 2012 Olympics.

The ''Lord of the Ring'' made this observation when he was presented a cash award of Rs five lakh by the Velammal Matriculation School here today, in honour of his bronze medal winning performance in the Beijing Olympics.

On behalf of Velammal Educational Trust School correspondent M V M Velmohan gave the cheque to the boxer in the presence of former Indian cricketers Roger Binny and Syed Kirmani, Tamil Nadu Director General of Police K P Jain and former boxer V Devarajan.

''My focus is to win the Gold in next Olympics. Modelling will only be a part time. My focus will only be on boxing'', he said and added he would be joining the onoging National camp at Patiala and get back to training.

It was happy moment for Vijender as he was felled by the warm welcome extended by the Velammal students, who braving heavy rains and carrying umbrellas, received the boxer sporting a disarming smile.

Speaking on the occasion Vijender exhorted the students to work hard. ''You students have to work hard to be successful and keep moving on to achieve more. You must have a great aim in life and must work hard to get medals in the chosen field.'' UNI GV VV AB HS1600
