The Indian chess team continued their fantastic run in the Chess Olympiad 2024 Round 10 on Saturday (September 20).
The Indian men's team were excellent yet again as they beat USA, whereas the women's team also recorded a magnificent win over China.

It was yet another superb outing for the men's team in the open section 2.5-1.5. D. Gukesh beat Fabian Caruana, and the Indian completed the match with a 97.4 per cent accuracy. In the 2nd board, Praggnanandhaa suffered a defeat against Wesley So, but Arjun Erigaisi came back strongly with a win over Leinier Dominguez. In the final match, Vidit Gujrathi managed a stalemate against Levon Aronian to secure India's victory.
With the victory, India moved closer to the chess Olympiad gold medal.
The Indian women's team also secured a fantastic 2.5-1.5 over China. After two draws in the first two, it was the crucial win from Divya Deshmukh which secured India's victory in Round 10. In the end, it was three stalemates and Divya's solitary victory that secured India's win.
The Indian women's team also further bolstered their medal hopes as they now sit 2nd in the points table.
