The Indian men's chess team is set to face Uzbekistan in the ninth round of the Chess Olympiad 2024 on Friday (September 20). This event will take place at the SYMA Sports and Conference Centre in Budapest, Hungary.
In their previous match, India secured a convincing 3.5-0.5 victory over Iran. Players D. Gukesh, Arjun Erigaisi, and Vidit Gujrathi delivered outstanding performances against their Iranian opponents.

In contrast, the Indian women's team experienced their first defeat in the tournament against Poland. Despite winning six consecutive rounds, they fell short with a score of 1.5-2.5. Their next challenge will be against the United States in the ninth round.
In the open section, India will compete against Uzbekistan with the following board pairings: D. Gukesh will play Nodirbek Abdusattorov on Board 1, R. Praggnanandhaa faces Javokhir Sindarov on Board 2, Arjun Erigaisi takes on Shamsiddin Vokhidov on Board 3, and Vidit Gujrathi meets Jakhongir Vakhidov on Board 4.
