The Indian Women's team has won a historic Gold medal in the Chess Olympiad 2024 on Sunday (September 22).
After scintillating displays across the rounds of the tournament, the Indian women's squad continued their prowess on the final day in Round 11.

The Indian women's team was set to play against Azerbaijan in the final round. And it was another near-flawless performance from the women's team who completed a 3.5-0.5 victory over Azerbaijan.
Harika Dronavalli won the first board against Gunay Mammadzada, whereas Divya Deshmukh also registered a win over Govhar Beydullayeva. Although Vaishali R was held for a stalemate, Vantika Agrawal's easy win over Khanim Balajayeva completed India women's easy victory.
The Indian women's team thus completed with 19 points after the complete round of fixtures in the Chess Olympiad. The women's team have been excellent in the tournament but along with them Kazakhstan was also level on points. But after Kazakhstan's 2-2 stalemate against USA, India's Gold Medal was confirmed.
It is a magnificent moment for the Chess fraternity in the country. After such promise, both the men's and women's team have clinched the summit spot in excellent style. The men's team earlier secured their Gold with another fantastic win over Slovenia in their final round of the Olympiad.
