Chinese women dash Indian eves' dream of winning bronze in archery

Beijing, Aug 10 : Chinese women shattered Indian eves' dream of wining a bronze medal in archery, as the former defeated the Indian trio - L Bombayla Devi, Dola Banerjee and Pranitha Vardhineni - in a nail-biting finish at the Beijing Olympics on Sunday. Bombayla, Dola and Pranitha, who got a bye in the first round, lost 206-211 to the Chinese trio of Lin Jiang, Wenquan Li and Feng Hai Xue.

The Indian eves could manage only five 10s as opposed to China's nine that ultimately tilted the result in host team's favour.

However, there is still hope in the individual section where Bombayla will face lowly Iwona Marcinkiewicz of Poland, while experienced Dola will take on Marie-Pier Beaudet on Tuesday.

Youngest of the lot, Pranitha will have a tough task to get past Australian Jane Waller.
