Churchill routes Velsao Pale 4-0

Panaji, Sept 17 (UNI) Formidable Churchill Brothers trounced bottom placed Velsao Pale by 4-0 and maintained their position at the top of the table in the GFA Vodafone Professional Football league match at Tilak ground Vasco da Gama today.

Velsao Pale were lucky to hold Churchill brothers goaless till the first 45 minutes, but in the next half, Churchill scored four goals through Jaison Vales in the 55th minute and Genius Zenith in the 57th minute.

Chimao Kwu Felix made it 3-0 for his side with his solo efforts. He collected a ball from the centre and moved down with the ball dribbling past rival defenders, decieved the goalkeeper and shot into the net.

Nicolas Rodrigues completed the tally following the flag kick, to make it 4-0 and sealed the fate of Velsao Pale.

This is Churchill's 4th consecative win and took their points tally to 12.

While in another match played at Nehru stadium Fatorda in Margao, Sporting club de Goa edged out Raia Sporting by 1-0.

The all important goal for Sporting came in the dying minute of the second half through Anthony D Souza.
