Churchill take on JCT tomorrow

Margao, Feb 15 (PTI) Churchill Brothers would look tobounce back after their defeat against Dempo when they meetJCT in the 15th round of the I-League at the Nehru Stadiumhere tomorrow.

Churchill Brothers are placed third with 26 points from14 matches, five points behind Salgaocar and East Bengal whoare at the top of the table with 31 points each.

Churchill Brothers had struggled upfront against Dempo inthe absence of Odafe Okolie before but the biggestdisappointment was their new foreign Brazilian recruit AmauryNunes Neto who failed to provide the spark in the midfieldwhich lacked the creativeness in a 0-2 defeat againsg Dempo.

Churchill Brothers coach Vincent Subramanian will behoping that new recruits -- medio Amaury Nunes and strikerBoima Karpeh strike form in the absence of Okolie as theycannot afford to drop points further which will make thingsdifficult to be in the race for the title.

Churchill Brothers will miss defender Robert L due todouble booking and coach Subramanian said that his boys haverealised their mistakes in their defeat against Dempo.

The boys now have geared up for tomorrow''s match againstJCT who are known for their fighting spirit.

"We have the advantage of playing at home and we need tocollect full points to stay in the title race," Subramaniansaid.

The first leg has been topsy turvy for the Phagwara sidewhich has managed to collect only three points from their lastfive rounds to find themselves in the 10th position aftertheir unbeaten run between sixth to ninth round. More PTI MCSDK AT

The return of club legend Sukhwinder Singh at the helm should be a big morale boost for the team as the second legwill be more tough and they need to beat the teams around thatare striving for survival in the elite zone.

JCT technical director Sukhwinder Singh said his boyshave shown good performance against top teams and blamedbad ground in some of their matches which resulted in theirloss.

Churchill is a tough team and difficult to beat at home.

Our aim is not to lose and so we will give our best to collectas many points, stated Sukhwinder, adding Baldeep Singh is outdue to injury.
