Clark And Boston Make WNBA History With 30-Point Double-Doubles
Three Commissioner’s Cup clashes produced high scoring performances, historic milestones and key shifts in the WNBA standings. The Indiana Fever edged the Chicago Sky 114-106 in overtime, the Dallas Wings beat the Phoenix Mercury 85-70, and the New York Liberty overpowered the Atlanta Dream 104-90 to stay perfect in Cup play and extend a strong winning run.
The standout feats came from Aliyah Boston and Caitlin Clark, who delivered matching 30-point double-doubles for Indiana, and from Paige Bueckers in Dallas, who produced a season-best 31 points. New York’s balanced offence, with five players scoring at least 16, underlined the Liberty’s growing control of the Eastern Conference Commissioner’s Cup race.

Indiana’s 114-106 victory over Chicago featured a season-high 34 points and 12 rebounds from Aliyah Boston, while Caitlin Clark matched season bests with 32 points and 10 assists. Together, Boston and Clark became the first teammates in WNBA history to both record 30-point double-doubles in a single game, as the Fever claimed a seventh straight win against the Sky.
The Fever moved to 3-1 in the Commissioner’s Cup and 7-5 overall, while Chicago slipped to 1-4 in Cup play and 4-9 on the season. For the second consecutive outing, Indiana built a big lead, lost control late, yet still closed out a win in extra time or the final seconds.
Earlier in the week, Indiana surrendered a 17-point advantage against the Washington Mystics and needed a deep 3-pointer from Clark with 1.2 seconds left to secure a 78-76 road success. Against Chicago, the pattern was similar, as the Fever wasted a 19-point cushion and then saw a five-point edge vanish with less than 10 seconds remaining in regulation.
Elizabeth Williams hit two free throws to trim the margin, then a turnover on Indiana’s inbounds pass presented Chicago with one last chance. Skylar Diggins took full advantage, knocking down a long 3-pointer with 0.9 seconds on the clock to tie the score at 98 and force overtime, before the Sky’s offence stalled during the extra period.
In overtime, Chicago managed only one field goal in eight attempts, while Boston seized control by scoring eight points to seal Indiana’s third win in four games. Rookie Sydeny Taylor led the Sky with a season-high 30 points and Diggins added 21, but the visitors could not match Indiana’s execution in the closing minutes.
Caitlin Clark was perfect from the foul line, going 15 of 15 as Indiana made its first 23 free throws. The streak ended when Kelsey Mitchell missed a late attempt with 46 seconds left in overtime, yet the Fever still closed out the contest. That accuracy from the stripe was a central factor in Indiana’s ability to survive Chicago’s late charge.
WNBA Commissioner’s Cup: Liberty stay perfect against Dream
The New York Liberty extended their winning run to six games and remained unbeaten in the Commissioner’s Cup with a 104-90 victory over the Atlanta Dream. Breanna Stewart and Satou Sabally each scored 19 points as New York moved to 9-4 overall and 4-0 in Cup play, tightening the grip on the Eastern Conference lead.
Stewart contributed 11 rebounds and five assists, while Sabally hit 5 of 6 from 3-point range in just 17 minutes. Jonquel Jones added 16 points and 10 rebounds, Pauline Astier matched that 16-point output, and Marine Johannes scored 17, giving New York five players with at least 16 points for the first time in franchise history.
The Liberty shot efficiently from every area, finishing at 54.2 per cent from the field, 51.6 per cent from 3-point distance with 16 of 31 attempts, and 85.7 per cent from the free-throw line by making 24 of 28. That offensive balance and accuracy helped keep Atlanta behind despite strong individual scoring from Dream starters.
Atlanta, now 8-4 overall and 3-2 in the Commissioner’s Cup, struggled with accuracy, hitting 31.0 per cent of 3-pointers by making 9 of 29, and only 55.6 per cent from the foul line with 15 of 27. Angel Reese led the Dream with 25 points and nine rebounds, Rhyne Howard scored 24 and Allisha Gray supplied 18 points in the defeat.
Across the three Commissioner’s Cup fixtures, individual scoring displays stood out, but team trends were just as clear, with the Fever, Wings and Liberty strengthening their positions. Indiana’s resilience in close finishes, Dallas’ efficient shooting and New York’s depth each shaped the results and kept those teams firmly in contention within their respective Cup races.
