CME enters knockout round in RWITC team tournament

Pune, Mar 29 (UNI) Aranxa and her father Colonel E Sanchez played well and took their team CME into the knockout round by beating PGI 'C' and PYC 'C' in the interclub snooker team tournament at the Royal Western India Turf Club (RWITC) House here today.

The tournament is organised by the RWITC and sponsored by Turf Club member Pramod Patel and supported by Keku Nicholson of Selvel and UB Spirits.

In the last league match, CME put out PGI 'C' 2-1. In the Snooker single, Aranxa Sanchez scraped Harish Talawade 48-53, 50-27, 55-63, 53-27, 53-42, while PGI pair Victor Fernandes and Norman Harry washed CME's Col E Sanchez and Major Basnet in snooker doubles by 41-55, 54-40, 24-46.

In the deciding match, Major Basnet of CME played a fine knock to put out Norman Harry 37-70, 44-22, 55-47, 15-66, 65-64. In the second match, CME washed PYC 'C' 2-0, and entered the knockout round for the first time in their career. The knockout rounds will commence from tomorrow.
