Collin Morikawa claimed a tense victory at Pebble Beach, ending a title drought stretching back to October 2023. The two-time major champion posted 22 under, finishing one stroke ahead of Min Woo Lee and Sepp Straka, after a decisive birdie on the par-five 18th secured the latest PGA Tour trophy.
World number one Scottie Scheffler mounted a strong charge during the final round at Pebble Beach, producing a 63 that stood as the lowest score of the day. That late push moved Scheffler into a share of fourth place on 20 under, tied with Tommy Fleetwood, after starting the round well behind the leaders.

Scheffler had begun the final day eight shots adrift of the lead, yet created a serious threat through aggressive play. During the Pro-Am era at Pebble Beach Golf Links, which dates back to 1983, Scheffler became the first player to register three eagles in a single competitive round at the famous coastal course.
"I had to do something special today to give myself a chance," Scheffler said. "I was playing really aggressive, a bit more aggressive than maybe I normally am, so a few bogeys on the card. I've felt like I'm battling all week just to give myself a chance and then to have some special stuff happen today and put myself in the clubhouse with a chance is always nice."
While Scheffler surged, Morikawa protected a narrow advantage during a tense closing stretch. A bogey on the 17th hole threatened to derail the campaign, yet after a long delay reaching the 18th tee, Morikawa regrouped. A composed birdie on the closing par five restored control and confirmed the winning total of 22 under.
"I've put countless hours and nights into ittoo many hours thinking about golf," Morikawa told Sky Sports. "I'm thankful for the people around me. They kept believing in me, I kept believing in myself. At the beginning of this week, it didn't feel like this would be possible, but I was able to put one step in front of the other, play some great shots and some great putts."
The result continued a strong pattern for the California-born player on familiar terrain. Morikawa has now collected three of seven PGA Tour victories within California, underlining comfort on courses in the home state. Pebble Beach now joins other Californian venues where Morikawa has converted chances under pressure in elite company.
Social media reaction followed swiftly after Morikawa’s success at Pebble Beach, with the PGA Tour highlighting the local connection between champion and venue.
Defending champion Rory McIlroy concluded the week with a final-round 64, gaining momentum after some earlier setbacks. McIlroy noted that several poor tee shots during the previous round had damaged the title bid but felt the overall state of the game remained strong heading into the following tournament on the schedule.
"There was a couple of destructive tee shots yesterday but everything feels in pretty good shape," McIlroy said. "But all-in-all some really good stuff this week and I'm pretty encouraged going into next week for sure."
The week at Pebble Beach therefore closed with Morikawa back in the winner’s circle, Scheffler delivering a historic scoring feat, and McIlroy finishing with confidence after a low final round. The event offered key form indicators for leading players as the PGA Tour season moved deeper into its schedule.
