'Comeback-kid' Hamilton feels 'stronger than ever' after Canadian GP win

London, June 15(ANI): McLaren Formula One ace Lewis Hamilton, who has rocketed to the top of the drivers' standings after winning Sundays' Canadian Grand Prix, has vowed to stay ahead of the pack and regain the championship title.

Hamilton's 13th career win gave him a three-point lead over team-mate Jenson Button, with former championship leader Red Bull's Mark Webber three points back.

"This victory was as good a win as I've ever had. I feel stronger than ever," The Sun quoted Hamilton, as saying.

"It was a case of staying out of trouble, getting through the traffic as quickly as possible, not making mistakes. It was one of the biggest challenges of my career."

"It has been a long time since I was leading the championship, but now this is where you really have to knuckle and grind, brush it down to the bone. This is where you can make a difference," he added.

Hamilton further reckons that winning the trophy this year with so many former champions in the field would be a massive achievement.

"This year you have got so many great drivers who are all at their best - all driving good gear. To win it this season I guess really does show your talent," Hamilton said.

The 25-year-old also said that he feels that he has been consistent this year, just like when he won the title in 2007.

"Look at my consistency in 2007 in those first few races. I feel I've had that, perhaps even a little bit more this year, but it has not shown up as much as it did then. In 2007 it was just Ferrari so it was much easier to maintain that consistency," he added. (ANI)
