Chaotic sites of CWG stadiums escalate anxiety

Posted By: Samyuktha

New Delhi, Aug 2: With less than 60 days to go for the Commonwealth Games 2010, the anxiety levels are running high as Delhi is yet to show substantial proof to the promises of the authorities that the CWG 2010 will be the "best" ever.

Almost all the stadiums that are set to host different sporting events are still under construction despite being inaugurated the Sports Minister, M S Gill.

Raw materials and rubble lay on the grounds as contruction workers are still working around the clock to get the infrastructure ready for the Games that is set to begin on Oct 3.

Adding to the woes, monsoons are proving to be a huge hurdle for the work despite the deadlines being revised several times.

Even as scathing allegations of corruption hit the Commonwealth Games Organising Committee (OC), the chief, Suresh Kalmadi, continues to insist that the Commonwealth Games will not only be a success but a huge one at that.

In his latest assurance, Kalmadi said, "All infrastructure would be ready on time and there is nothing to worry."
