Conor McGregor Confirms Talks With "Ambani Family" For Combat Sport Circus With Logan Paul in India

Former UFC double champion Conor McGregor has dimissed an early return to the Octagon as "The Notorious" confirmed talks are in progress with the Ambani family for a boxing exhibition match with Logan Paul.

McGregor shrugged earlier reports of his UFC return to face current featherweight champion Ilia Topuria, but admitted that his next fight will not be in the Octagon as he eyes another huge payday with a boxing circus, which has become very common to several pros these days.

It was McGregor who opened the door for these cross-combat fights, which are purely for entertaiment with a lot of money up for grabs, and even though he has kept the UFC and real combat fans waiting, the former UFC double champ seems to be in talks for another one of those circus boxing showdowns.

"The rumors of a bout with topurio are false. I am in preliminary agreements with the Ambani family to face Logan Paul in a boxing exhibition in India. I have agreed. I will then seek my return to the Octagon," McGregor posted on X, clarifying about his next fight.

The 36-year-old Irishman met boxing great Floyd "Money" Mayweather in 2017 in a boxing exhibition. The Notorious suffered a tenth-round TKO on that night in Las Vegas in the bout, dubbed "The Money Fight" as it bagged big bucks, totalling way over $400million between the two athletes.

McGregor last fought inside the Octagon over three years ago, while Logan Paul recently held the US championship in the WWE. The Paul brothers - Logan and Paul have been part of several exhibition fights so far. Logan also had crossed paths with Mayweather in 2021.

McGregor was slated to return to the UFC earlier this year during international fightweek to face Michael Chandler in an already delayed bout to end their The Ultimate Fighter coaching duties, but the Irishman was forced to withdraw due to an injury.

While he is yet to return to the Octagon where he last appeared in 2021, when he suffered a second successive loss against Dustin Porier, first in UFC 257 and then in UFC 264. Since, his first dive into the cross-combat circus, McGregor is 1-3 in the UFC with his only win coming against Donald Cerrone and the other defeat coming against Khabib Nurmagomedov.

Should Conor McGregor take this fight with Logan Paul?

The boxing circus is yet to be confirmed, but in the current day, these kind of circus shows often materialize. The money is huge and fans in India also will be eager to get a glimpse of the former UFC champ. However, they would rather experience the Octagon arriving India and the Notorious part of that card.

Both McGregor and Logan Paul would rake in big paychecks, but if this happens, it will only be a travesty to combat sport. Boxing already is a joke with amateurs. Now, the pros also are taking up any fight to make big money.

Recent Mike Tyson vs Jake Paul circus was a good example of how combat sport was made a mockery of. Money is there, and someone like McGregor wouldn't give a toss what others make of the potential fight.
