CR Bhusawal prevails over Ordnance Factory 3-0
Pune, July 7 (UNI) A fine brace by center-forward Sami Shaikh was the highlight of Central Railway Bhusawal's 3-0 win over Ordnance Factory Ambarnath in the 104th All India Aga Khan hockey tournament today.
Following today's win, Central Railway sailed into the last eight stage of the tournament.
Sami scored the first goal in the 22nd minute after capitalising on a move initiated by Javed Yusuf. Sami again found the mark in the 28th minute after Mohammad Asif did the spade work. The winners increase the margin further in the 55th minute through right-winger Asalam Tahil.
The rivals received five penalty corners each but failed to take advantage of them.
Ordnance Factory tried to put up a fight, but Shrinavas Kale, Vijay Singh and Mohinder Singh missed the mark from close range and failed to score even a consolation goal.
Earlier, the Vikram Pillay Academy and Metro Club earned walk-overs as their respective opponents, Priyadarshini Sports Centers and Old Boys Association, failed to turn of for the matches.
The quarterfinal line-up has thus been drawn with Pune City Police taking on Metro Club, while Pune City Police will lock horns with Central Railway Bhusawal. RCF Mumbai will take on Railway Police Pune while Vikram Pillay Academy will meet United Front Mumbai.
