Stephen Curry's Hamstring Injury Leaves Him Doubtful For Game 2 Against Timberwolves

Stephen Curry suffered a hamstring strain during the Warriors' victory over the Timberwolves and is doubtful for Game 2. Coach Steve Kerr expresses concern over his recovery while teammates aim to maintain performance without him.

Stephen Curry's hamstring strain during the Golden State Warriors' win over the Minnesota Timberwolves has left him doubtful for Game 2. The Warriors secured a 99-88 victory in the first game of their second-round series on Tuesday. Buddy Hield contributed 24 points, while Jimmy Butler added 20. Despite Curry's early exit in the second quarter, Golden State used 12 players to maintain their lead.

Head coach Steve Kerr expressed uncertainty about Curry's return, stating, "We don't know yet." He added that imagining Curry playing on Thursday is difficult due to the nature of hamstring injuries. Kerr acknowledged Curry's disappointment but praised the team's performance without him. "Obviously we're all concerned about Steph, but it's part of the game," he said.

Curry Doubtful for Game 2 vs. Timberwolves

Jimmy Butler emphasised the team's ability to cope without Curry, saying, "I think we all want 30 back, that is for sure. But we want him to do his best for himself, best for our group. Until then, we can hold down the fort. I know we can." This sentiment reflects the team's determination to continue performing well despite Curry's absence.

The Warriors' victory marked a unique moment in NBA Playoffs history. No home team has won in this year's second round so far. Excluding the 2020 bubble, it's unprecedented for road teams to win multiple games without a loss over three consecutive days.

Minnesota center Rudy Gobert praised the Warriors' response to Curry's injury. "I didn't see any change in their approach," he noted. Gobert acknowledged that although Steph is crucial, Golden State played with intensity from the start. In contrast, he felt his team lacked that energy initially.

Wolves coach Chris Finch highlighted Anthony Edwards' performance as a key issue. Edwards scored a team-high 23 points but struggled with shooting efficiency. Finch remarked, "It starts with Ant... You're the leader of the team. You've got to come out and set the tone." He stressed that maintaining energy is crucial even when shots aren't falling.

The Warriors' ability to adapt and perform without their star player demonstrates their depth and resilience. As they prepare for Game 2 at Target Center on Thursday, they remain hopeful for Curry's recovery while focusing on maintaining their momentum in his absence.
