CWG 2014: India's medal winners on day 9 (July 31)

Glasgow, Aug 1: Wrestlers Yogeshwar Dutt, Babita Kumari and discus thrower Vikas Gowda clinched gold for India at the Commonwealth Games here on Thursday (July 31).

On the 9th day of the Games, India bagged 6 medals. Dipa Karmakar created history by becoming the first Indian gymnast to bag a medal at Commonwealth Games. She took bronze in artistic gymnastics vault event.

Vikas Gowda won gold in discus throw to join the legendary Milkha Singh with this achievement. Gowda is India's second male athlete to win a gold at the Commonwealth Games after Milkha won the 440 yard gold way back in 1958 at Cardiff.

India now has 47 medals and moved one place up, to fifth in the standings. In CWG 2010 at New Delhi, India won a record 101 medals (38 Gold, 27 Silver, 36 Bronze).
