Commonwealth Games gold medallist Achinta Sheuli reportedly has been kicked out of the national camp in NIS Patiala after he was accused of breaking into the girls' hostel on the premises.
The incident comes to light when national camps are underway for the Paris Olympics 2024. After Hindi daily Amar Ujala reported earlier today that a male weightlifter was caught in girls' hostel premises by the security guards, RevSportz identified that person in question to be Achina Sheuli.

This is the second time such an incident has happened in the weightlifting national camp in Patiala as two years ago decorated weightlifter Jeremy Lalrinnunga, Youth Olympic Champion and CWG gold medallist, was accused of a similar offence and subsequently thrown out of the national camp. Jeremy won the national championships two months later but is not included in the national camp yet.
RevSportz further reported that Jeremy escaped some serious trouble as the parents of the female athlete wanted to take legal action on the matter but the Indian Weightlifting Federation (IWLF) brokered peace before the matter could escalate.
In the case of Achinta Sheuli, the matter is under investigation and closely monitored by the top brass of the IWLF and Sports Authority of India (SAI), who are in charge of the facilities at the NIS Patiala.
The 22-year-old weightlifter has been sent back to his hometown in the outskirts on Kolkata and could be an end to what could have been a glorious weightlifting career. IWLF president Shahdev Yadav earlier told Amar Ujala that strict action will be taken once the investigation is concluded.
