New Delhi, Sep 22: Commonwealth Games Federation (CGF) chief, Michael Fennell, who will be landing in India on Thursday, Sep 23 on the occasion of the opening of the Athletes" Village, may meet Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to press for his continual intervention to save the Delhi Games.

CGF has already sought PM's intervention after Fennell wrote a letter to Cabinet Secretary on Monday, Sep 20 on the sorry state of the Games Village.

“The final preparations for the Games Village have been of concern to the CGF since viewing the residential zone along with a number of Commonwealth Games Associations advance parties on September 15," Mr Fennel had said in the statement.

Fennell's visit to Delhi means that the scandal-marred Organising Committee of Delhi Games will also be forced to face some tough questions.

“Many issues remain unresolved and I wrote to the Indian Cabinet Secretary, expressing my great concern with the preparedness of Athletes Village. The condition of residential zone has shocked majority of the CGAs that are in Delhi.

“However, with the Village to be officially opened on September 23, timely acceptable solutions to prepare for the arrival of athletes are of paramount importance," Fenell said.

Besides Fenell, CGF chief executive Mike Hooper on Wednesday, Sep 21 also termed the Atheletes' Village 'filthy', after which many star athletes from Britain and Australia pulled out of the sporting event citing security and healt reasons.

The Prime Minister's Office (PMO) was quick to jump to action. Dr Singh has also begun intervention by asking New Delhi's Lieutenant Governor, Tejendra Khanna to personally oversee the clean-up of the Games village.
